Youth justice

ICPR’s youth justice research includes studies on the Youth Court and on public attitudes to youth crime, and work conducted as part of the International Self-Report Delinquency Study. We have undertaken qualitative and quantitative investigations of the needs of children and young people in custody, and reviewed provision within the secure estate.

Completed projects include:

Enhancing problem-solving practice in the Youth Court
The negotiation of pleasure, risk and harm in young people’s digital lives: A scoping project on the mental health and wellbeing implications of online ‘transgressive’ behaviours
The quality of legal advice and representation in the Youth Justice System
The Youth Proceedings Advocacy Review
