Quality of Legal Representation in the Youth Justice System

Quality of Legal Representation in the Youth Justice System

The Institute for Crime and Justice Policy Research (ICPR), Birkbeck are conducting research on legal representation and advocacy in the Youth Justice System with the charity Just for Kids Law.  The research, funded by the Dawes Trust, is seeking to identify whether, and what kinds of, interventions are needed to improve the quality of the work of criminal solicitors who advise and represent child suspects and defendants.

Below is a link to our national survey of criminal solicitors about working in the youth justice system. This is completely anonymous and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It will help to determine what - if any - further knowledge, training and resources are required to enhance the quality of advice and legal representation provided by solicitors to children at the police station and in court.
