Jessica Jacobson appointed to Sentencing Council for England and Wales

Former ICPR Director, Professor Jessica Jacobson, has been appointed as a non-judicial member of the Sentencing Council for England and Wales for a period of three years, with effect from 2 March 2026.

The Sentencing Council for England and Wales was established in 2010 to promote transparency and consistency in sentencing while maintaining judicial independence. Its primary role is to issue sentencing guidelines, monitor their use, and promote public awareness about sentencing practice. Jessica will serve as the academic member of the Council for the duration of her appointment.
